Blur sensitive info before you take a screenshot
PlainBlur is Chrome only. It works on web pages, not desktop apps. The page is not uploaded. Back to PlainBlur.
| Fact | Detail |
|---|---|
| Price | Free is manual blur on one site. Pro is $49, paid once, for one browser: every site plus auto-blur. Team is $99, paid once, for five browsers, with the same blurs as Pro. |
| What's included | Blur an element or an area, then capture the page. Alt+Shift+B shows or hides every blur together. There is no control that reveals one field and leaves the rest blurred. |
| What it doesn't do | It does not edit the screenshot file. It is a best-effort visual aid. It can miss text in images, canvases, and some iframes, and a brief flash is possible. The page is not uploaded. PlainBlur is a visual aid, not a privacy or compliance guarantee. |

Why blur in the page instead of editing the image?
The blur is drawn on the page, so the screenshot shows the blur. You do not paint boxes on the image afterward, and PlainBlur does not edit the image file. The values are still on the page. This is a visual cover, not a deletion.
Which screenshot tools does this work with?
Any tool that captures the browser window or the page, because the blur is already on the screen. PlainBlur does not plug into a screenshot app, and it does not edit the file that tool saves. It does not cover a desktop app outside Chrome.
Can I reveal one field and keep the rest blurred?
No. Show or hide applies to every blur at once. Alt+Shift+B, or Hide blurs in the popup, reveals every blur or covers them all again. To leave one field readable, do not blur that field, or remove that blur. The others stay covered. There is no control that uncovers a single field while the rest stay blurred.
What can be missed?
PlainBlur is a best-effort visual aid. It can miss text in images, canvases, and some iframes, and a brief flash before the blur is possible. The page is not uploaded. Drag an area over a picture if the text inside it should be covered. The script runs in the top page, not inside an iframe. PlainBlur is a visual aid, not a privacy or compliance guarantee.
